Dr. Sumaya Abdullah Hamad, a lecturer at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, participated in delivering an awareness lecture entitled:

(Your Digital Defense – Fundamentals of Cybersecurity and Data Protection in the Smart Age). The lecture was held in the Ibn Al-Haytham Hall at the Civil Engineering Department, College of Engineering, University of Anbar, on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

The lecture addressed the most prominent fundamental concepts in the field of cybersecurity, mechanisms for protecting personal and institutional data, and reviewed the most common digital threats in the digital age and ways to prevent them. The lecturer also emphasized the importance of enhancing security awareness among students and staff, and the necessity of adopting safe digital practices in the academic and professional environment.

The lecture witnessed significant interaction from the attendees, with a number of questions and inquiries that enriched the discussion and reflected the students' interest in the topic of cybersecurity and its impact on various engineering disciplines. This participation comes within the framework of scientific and awareness cooperation between the colleges of Anbar University, and its keenness to spread digital culture and promote the concepts of safe digital transformation in the university environment.
