Workshop: Family Upbringing and its Impact on Preventing Violence Against Women

 

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, Professor Dr. Salah Awad Salman, the Women's Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, organized a workshop entitled:

 

"Family Upbringing and its Impact on Preventing Violence Against Women." The workshop was held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in the Al-Khwarizmi Hall at the college. The following individuals presented at the workshop:

1. Assistant Professor Dr. Shamous Taha Hammadi

2. Dr. Makarem Abdul Wahid Abdul Jabbar

3. Mr. Shokhan Mahmoud Hama

4. Ms. Hamsa Mohammed Ahmed

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of sound family upbringing in building a cohesive family capable of instilling values ??of respect and equality among its members, thus contributing to the prevention of gender-based violence, especially violence directed against women.

 

The workshop also addressed the role of community and psychological awareness, and the importance of academic institutions contributing to spreading a culture of dialogue and tolerance within the family, thereby fostering a safe and supportive environment for women.

 

The workshop included interventions and discussions from students that enriched the dialogue, with many ideas and proposals being put forward that emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between families, educational institutions, and the community in reducing the phenomenon of domestic violence.
