
Among the activities of Global Entrepreneurship Week, a workshop titled "The Impact of Technology on Family Relationships and Mental Health."
As part of the scientific plan adopted by the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, and in order to promote a culture of knowledge under the patronage of its esteemed Dean, Professor Dr. Salah Awad Salman, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit organized a workshop titled "The Impact of Technology on Family Relationships and Mental Health" on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in the Al-Khwarizmi Hall at the college, which was presented by (Dr. Somaya Abdullah Hamad) and (Dr. Aroua Hatim).
The workshop aimed to shed light on the dangers of social media addiction, the negative effects of excessive use, the psychological and social factors faced by individuals and families, and family disintegration.
The workshop also addressed the dangers of social media addiction, describing it as a cause of family disintegration due to its contribution to reducing the bond between family members and their loss of the sense of familial security that is essential for all its members. And it recommended creating a balance between social interaction in real life and social interaction in the virtual world, reducing the use of these sites, and paying attention to family members to create a happy family life.
